Linden  May 2 -- Ethel, 8-year-old daughter of Daniel GUARD died at the home of her father, 3 miles north of here this morning at 6:30 after an illness of only a few days. The child was taken ill with inflammatory rheumatism last Friday but the attack was very severe and her condition grew steadily worse until the time of her death. The funeral will be in Romney Wed afternoon at 1 o’clock and services will be in charge of Rev. Bishop. Burial in Linden Cemetery. 3 sisters, one brother and a father left to mourn. - typed by kbz

Linden -- Ethel, 8-year-old daughter of Daniel GUARD, who resided 3 miles north of here and a mile and a half SE of Romney, died this morning at half past 6 after a brief illness with inflammatory rheumatism. The little girl was seized by rheumatism last Friday and her condition grew worse until this morning when the disease affected her heart, causing her death in a short time. Her mother died 3 years ago. She is survived by her father, 3 sisters, Gladys, Louise and Marie and one brother, Forest, besides her grandparetns and a number of other relatives. Ethel was a bright and lovable child and her death is the cause of sincere sorrow. The funeral will be held at Romney on on Wed at one in the afternoon, Rev. Bishop.
